Silly Saturday ....
.... interesting day!
What an incredibly interesting (and at times scary!) day we had! Sorry but this is going to be a long post .... there's lots to say!
It started out mundane enough with R going for a haircut and to Home Depot while I started the long process of working on our March vacation pictures. I haven't gotten very far in the process I'm afraid.
After lunch instead of going for our normal walk R needed to work in the attic space above the garage due to some unwelcome guests! I sat in the sunroom reading the newspaper.
Around 3:00 pm R was done with his work and suggested we go up to the Plainfield Rail Trail for a walk. That's a little later than we would normally go but I was on board!
This is where it gets interesting (and scary) ....
When we arrived at the trail we did our normal things .... setting out nuts and seeds for the chipmunks and starting up the trail. At one point along the way we stopped to view the creek below us as it was raging with water due to the fact that it poured down rain this morning. We were at the spot for a few minutes and then proceeded up the trail. At that point we heard some loud cracking and looked back to where we were just standing ..... and down came this HUGE branch! Exactly where we had just been standing not moments before! Our guardian Angels were working overtime for us today! It might not look all that big in the pictures but the branch goes all the way down the hill ..... at least 20-30 feet!
You can see the branch in two of my pictures. Right after it fell this guy came along on his bike and helped R try to move some of it off the trail. He said he has the contact information of someone in charge of the trail maintenance and will contact him regarding the removal of the tree. They moved it off as best they could and then R put a cone nearby so hopefully any bicyclist or runners won't run into it. Luckily the cones were nearby after another recent incident in about the same location that stills hasn't been fixed.
After that we continued back to the car stopping first to get some chipmunk pictures. It was at that point that I realized something had happened with my camera and ALL the pictures were gone!!!!! As I was planning on using the fallen tree as my blip I was a bit upset. But I needn't have worried as R is a genius at recovering pictures! As you can see by my blip collage he was able to recover some of the more important pictures.
I hope that the chipmunk in my collage forgives me for adding Easter Bunny ears for the sake of Silly Saturday! And I hope you all have a very Happy Easter! We will!
