Six bottles of Vimto are sold every second!

Book club joined the Free Manchester Walking Tour today. A 3.5 hour guided walking tour of Manchester with the added bonus of being joined by The Sunday Boys, "Manchester's Male Voice Singing Sensation".

I've been on the tour about 4 times now and when I bumped into the guide, Josh, in a cafe beforehand I got a big hug :).  He talked without notes and recalled so many facts, figures and dates  - I thought I had a good memory!  He's so enthusiastic and energetic, and is repeating it all over again at 5 pm.  I, on the other hand, need to sit down and have a rest with a glass of something chilled.

The choir popped up in various locations around the city centre, singing George Michael's Faith on the footpath over the canal and a song about the Peterloo Massacre in the shadow of where it happened almost 200 years ago.  Our guide even sang a song about Vimto at the monument to the much loved cordial!

The tour covers a huge amount; the Roman settlement, Alan Turing, the statue of Abraham Lincoln, apples, the Hacienda, Vimto, nuclear bunkers, cotton, the Sex Pistols - and so much more.

I love Josh's ethos that you pay at the end of the tour and pay what you think it is worth or what you can afford depending on your budget.

With the husband away at another golf tournament it was great to spend the day with so many smiley faces, including my good friend (and blipper) Lisalou104.

Quote for today:
Those who will change the world are those who don't like it the way it is.
- Bertolt Brecht (and kindly blipped from a t-shirt of a guy on the tour)
