Sunday: The Bus Graveyard

It was another beautiful day today so, after a leisurely start, we took a drive out. First to Kaslo, a small little town, nestled at the lake's edge and at the foot of the mountains. From there, we drove to Sandon - a gold rush ghost town. There are a few of these ghost towns dotted around and I have been aching to see one since we arrived in Canada.

It didn't disappoint - the added bonus was that a local guy had also brought a whole load of Vancouver busses there to rest in peace.

We stopped for a late lunch in New Denver - tiniest of towns but with a wonderful café. And then back to enjoy the late sunshine on the deck of our Airbnb. Sitting in the sun, reading, enjoying the heat and hearing birdsong was the most perfect of feelings.

We ate in tonight.

Reading in the sunshine on the deck I finished 'The Real Mrs Miniver' by Ysenda Maxtone Grahame. It was a biography of Joyce Anstruther, the author behind 'Mrs Miniver', whose life was far from the perfect version of her heroine. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed it.
