Rural Life Museum, Glastonbury
As the name suggests, this museum tracess the social history of life in rural Somerset, much of it based on records and artefacts related to the life of a local farm worker from the nearby village of Butleigh in the 19th century. It's run by the County Council, entry is free and it stages a number of special events iover the year. At the moment there is a campaign to revamp and improve the Museum; if successful, it may mean closing it for a number of months while improvements are carried out. The orchard here at the side of the main buliding contains a number of different varieties of cider apple trees as well as the old farm machinery. Thought sepia suited the theme and the incessant rain we've had today.
Best large.
Took this on the way to the Old Gits' Christmas coffee morning at our friends Tony & Rosie's house. Rosie retired from her job as a Deputy Head yesterday, so this was her first chance to take part as a fully qualified member of the club! They're coming over to us for a retirement dinner tomorrow night
Got the final Christmas presents this afternoon - just the food and drink to buy!
