Donkey Beach

I am on a New Forest Beach! Yes I am!! And I’m very happy about it! Can you tell?

It was the last full day of our big family get together near Bournemouth. In fact, all of the younger generation had to leave this afternoon. But before they did they talked us ‘old folks’ into going with them to the same beach where they went yesterday. They loved it so much that they wanted to spend a few hours there again today before driving home.

So off we went to this secluded beach near Lymington. We relaxed, played in the water, searched for and found a geocache, watched the cyclists and paddle boarders, and had snacks.

Suddenly we had company!! Some of the free roaming New Forest donkeys decided to wander onto the beach. Aneeta and Jasmine were SO excited! They go horse riding already and are used to seeing donkeys at the riding stables, but seeing them wander onto the beach was a treat. We grownups were excited too until one of them discovered some crisps dropped on our picnic blanket and didn’t want to leave us alone.

It was a great family outing on yet another gloriously sunny and warm day. What a great holiday weekend this has been!
