Yes, it was the time for the show, Russian musical - Stilyagi. I think the nearest correct translation would be - style victims. almost like fashion victims these days, stilyagi were the victims of western-looking style in clothing, hear cuts, manner of speech. They saw the western culture through the tiny peep holes in the iron curtain back in the 50s and 60s of last century and built their own little islands or social groups of westernized environment. The story is about their exciting and tough lives, the bigger society did not accept them, and their islands were wiped up by tsunamis of the official state machine. Bit like every story at least with the musical - there is a happy end or at least half-happy.
