Heron

Today got off to a very slow start! Eventually I managed to be dressed, breakfasted and ready to go shopping, so off we went to Tesco. Brian had booked today off to extend his Easter weekend.

Shopping done and away, we went out again and had lunch in Morrison's cafe, then off to Hartsholme park to have a walk and find Blips. It hasn't been as sunny today, but still  a warm and  lovely day to be out in nature.

I had not actually realised until today that herons make their nests in the treetops - I'd always believed they nested on river- or lake- banks like swans etc. But today we noticed them flying into the trees on the island, and zooming in revealed that they were nesting! If you look closely you can even see a chick in my shot! It's a shame Brian hadn't had his Big Lens - he could have got an even closer shot!

Home now and a little tidying done. I'm going to do a few more chores and chop some steak to make fajitas for tea, then catch up with e-mails!
