a wee bit in my shoes...

Socialising with the shortbread..

This is a pic of shortbread I baked today and it's really the way things have been lately. Iv started baking again and friends I know have caught on to this. Quite often I will get a wee text or a caller at the door for a cuppa, chat and a homemade treat. I really have enjoyed this and in ways it has reminded me of my childhood and happy memories. My granny died in July and I really miss her but it's the memories which make me smile the most when I find it hard. As a child, I used to spend a lot of time at my grandparents house and I remember granny would be baking. She had a larder of biscuit tins which would be filled with all her homemade buns etc. This in turn always seemed to attract visitors and the house was always buzzing with activity. Granny would be in the middle of everyone laughing and all sharing stories over endless cuppas and treats. This was definitely good old fashioned entertaining and I loved it. The past few wks have reminded me of this and the importance of maintaining friendships in the most simplest of ways. So take time to switch off all the techno gadgets, get the baking gear out and enjoy a cuppa with a treat...
