A Thought For Xmas

Driving past the recently-built Queen of Peace Croatian Franciscan Centre in Norval, a few miles from home, set me wondering why so many monster Catholic mega churches have been built in our area of Southern Ontario in the past few years - I can think of five, catering for various ethnic communities, within a short drive.

Why the need for such majestic grandiosity and splendour, especially when so many parishioners are suffering the economic after effects of the financial meltdown?

If Jesus was born this weekend, a barn probably wouldn't be good enough; his parents would demand a mansion - and servants . . .
