Phalcoboenus chimango

The chimango (Phalcoboenus chimango), also called tiuque, chiuque or caracara chimango, is a species of falcon-like bird of the family Falconidae native to the southern cone of South America. It is found in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, reaching Bolivia, Paraguay and the extreme south of Brazil during winter trips, it has been seen in the Malvinas Islands. It is a sedentary animal with a great power of adaptation.
It is an eminently scavenger raptor, and opportunist attacking small immature birds from their nests, rodents and insects. Its feeding habits and habitat make it equivalent to the crows of the northern hemisphere.
