The Swinging Tree

Out early again with Finlay ahead of the forecast rain! This was taken just before 7 a.m. with the early morning sun creating long shadows across the floor of the woods. I liked the way the tree was picked out against the darker trees.

This huge old tree is a magnet for children (and some grown-ups). There is a long blue rope with a stick at the bottom to swing on - there is even a wooden ‘step’ to facilitate getting on.

In the background you can see a ‘den’ that has been built (it was Easter holidays at the beginning of April so plenty of kids running about). The main tree also had a den built against it but that has been pulled down - there are bits of it scattered at the bottom right of the shot.
