La Longue Rocque

Today is the winter solstice. Over 5000 people were at Stonehenge to watch the sun rise. I thought it was a suitable day for blipping the tallest menhir in Guernsey. I arrived at daybreak in my Druid robes, with ideas of picturing the menhir with the sun rising in a blaze of colour behind it. At least it wasn't raining today, but my pictures facing east just didn't work out. Here we view the menhir looking west with the Hanois lighthouse just visible in rough seas. The menhir stands 3.5m above ground. It is also known as Grande Pierre
