A Shakespeare day
Im doing an early blip as i dont have much power in my phone (& am yet to locate my charger!) and also because we are going out at 7 to the theatre.
We had a nice breakfast just after 8, then wandered into the town. Although we have visited Shakespeare's birthplace before, it was a few (10?) years ago, with 3 kids in tow. We bought the ticket that allows us access to 5 separate historical buildings. We began at the birthplace, where a very informative Tudor dressed lady gave us lots of information. If I had been told it before, I'd forgotten it, so it's been an interesting day. We then went to Shakespeare's 'New Place', where he ended his days. The guide there explained about the history of the house (which is no longer there) and it made it a very interesting talk. From there we walked to Halls Croft where his daughter Susannah lived.
A late lunch at Bella Italia, and then a bit of shopping. Jon bought a nice smart jacket in White Stuff - a sale bargain. He will wear it tonight.
Tomorrow we might have time to drive out to Mary Arden's Tudor Farm in the morning, before we leave for Bath. We can revisit with our tickets within the year, so we may just put it for a future trip.
Off to see As You Like It in an hour. We read the synopsis during our 11 o'clock coffee break....but I'm going to take it with me anyway!
