Not today!
This is the site of the famous stepping stones at the foot of Box Hill where walkers cross the River Mole before the steep climb up the hill.
But not today! Heavy rain to the south has filled the normally peaceful River Mole and the stepping stones have completely disappeared. Grandson George and I crossed them last summer - I must email him this picture!
The River Mole got its name from the fact that in extremely dry conditions it disappears in places and flows underground. I remember in a very dry year in the mid seventies (was it '75 or '76?) walking along the river bed with my children, scavenging old pieces of glass and pottery. It hasn't happened since.
