Village life

This is a shot of Polnoon Street in Eaglesham, taken from the Orry. The Orry is the triangular shaped green in the centre of the village, with Montgomery Street at the other side of Polnoon Street. Situated in the Orry, is the motte or Motte Hill, a flat-topped mound likely to be a site of the first wooden castle of the Montgomeries in the 12th century. The Orry is a wonderful place to sledge in the wintertime, and we have happy memories of taking the girls there when they were small.

We were up and away early this morning to get our Christmas food shopping done, at least the bulk of it. The weather is much the same as the rest of Scotland, rather dreich and a bit wet at times.
