The Gate

I don't know about where you live but it's bee a bit breezy here but with some sunny spells between the showers. I think this is my favourite gate. I've blipped several time before. The gatepost on the right is a bit of a giveaway for its status in past times as part of one of 'the grandest houses in Devon', Lindridge House. Sadly it caught fire in 1962 and by some terribly unfortunate coincidence the swimming pool had been emptied so when the fire crews arrived they had no supply of water to put it out. 

Anyway, the house is now a luxury development and the gardens have been restored and are Grade II listed in the National Register of Historic Parks and Gardens. These surrounding fields are let as pasture and this humble wooden gate on a grand post gradually deteriorates.
