Yesterday

My father failed to recover from his recent stroke and died peacefully at the Western General Hospital yesterday evening.

Today "the shortest day of the year" with continuous rain has appeared apt to spend collating the necessary paperwork for a death in the family. As well as how to register a death in Scotland I learnt that my grandfathers middle names were Pillans McAlpine and married a year and a day before my father was born at home.

My thanks go to the team at the Western General Stroke Unit who were wonderful to my dad and my thoughts are with my mum alone after 56 years with her partner.
