Friederike Poignant Gaze

Rike emailed last week to say she had a brilliant report and would love to sit for me as soon as possible. She came by this morning for a quick haircut and a rummage through the dressing up box.


It would be fair to say that I like a pensive expression best when it comes to child portraiture but sometimes I can find Rike gaze so poignant it kind of throws me. She has a way of looking right through you. Such an intensity in her expression. I find myself trying to make her giggle but this is her as she is. Far away eyes and her hands clasped to her chest.

It was all I could do not to pass the jacket on to her. She really loved it.

Rather blown away by the response to yesterdays portrait. Thanks for all the hearts and stars and lovely messages. I never feel completely confidant with post production so it was very encouraging.
