Zoom Burst

Yesterday I went on a digital photography course run by Dave Willis - http://mountainsportphoto.com/

Lots of learning around the exposure triangle – Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO – and some useful tips about hand shake, composition and interesting techniques – such as this Zoom Burst.

The other point I am holding on to are his “Three Golden Rules”:

1.     KISS
q  Keep it simple stupid
q  Simple = powerful
q  Less is more

q  Artists
§  Add and add until just enough
q  Photographers
§  Take away and take away until just enough
q  Aim for three things in photos – no distraction

2.     Background ruins pictures
q  Look out for clutter
q  Choose your background – think about where you are going to stand
q  Move around to adjust the background

3.     Most photos need a focal point
q  “What is your eye drawn to?”

His summary was that not every photo follows these rules – you can go for texture, colour and pattern
