A New Cabin
Today we were at Murberget, the County Museum. I'd walked there with Rusty so the dog and I were outside, waiting for Jan and Ruth to appear from inside where they were seeing a film.
I noticed this new construction and wandered over to take a look. It is a replacement cabin for one that burned down in 2017, in a nature reserve/national park about 90 km from here. It's being built here at the museum so people can see how it is done, then it'll be dismantled, moved to it's place in the national park and re-assembled.
I love the simplicity of these buildings. Two people with knowledge, handsaws and axes could construct a home from the local forest. Nowadays these builders are using powersaws, and perhaps some mechanical help to lift the logs into place but otherwise it's the same methods that have been in use for hundreds of years.
