Motoring

When we took part in the North Berwick Rotary Club's rally tour last year, much fun was had in the sun, but there was an ever-present overheating issue, papered over with Radweld, which turned out to be a ridiculously tired radiator. This year, thankfully, turned out mechanical-free. So I must be doing something right with the work on the wee orange beastie (looking nice and shiny in the first extra).

With some stresses we've had in our lives recently it was nice for us just to get out in the sun, head along some roads we've never been on before, have four separate hare encounters, chat to a few folk but feel no pressure to do so, and gaze sometimes enviously at some of the other cars on show (seems Mel has a real thing for Morris Minors... Which is probably more easily satisfied than if she'd taken a liking to the Ferrari 365 GT). A stunning little Fiat 500L took our collective fancy as well.

Sadly none of the four Minis involved came close to the prizes from a couple of judges on the cars they'd personally like to drive away - sadly because with it being the model's 60th anniversary I thought there might be some mention (and it's why, for this year only, Keats is sporting '60' door and bonnet numbers - though I quite like them, so the end of the year I might make the door ones bigger and go for a more apt, and less time-specific, number - either 76 for the year I was born, or 91 for the year the car was made).

A long day out, with beer at the end, and a three-day week in prospect. Like I say, it's about time, and fingers crossed it can continue.
