The Durham Dragon
Down to Morpeth first thing to set up our stall in the Craft Fair at the Northumbrian Gathering. Not many instruments to take with us as MrM has been concentrating commissions, but lots of people stopped to look at the display boards, wood and part-made instruments.
Went outside late morning and joined the crowds watching the Pageant. It seemed longer than usual, with several Morris sides, a giant 'Jamie Allen' , and the Durham Dragon, among lots of other things.
An elderly gentleman approached us during the day about some well-seasoned (40+ years) wood that he was trying to find a good home for - if we'd like it, we could and fetch it later today. So we accepted his kind offer, and after we'd packed away the stall at 6.00pm, headed down to his house, not far from Whitley Bay.
There's a supermarket at the end of the road where he lives so, wood safely in the car, we did the weekly shop. Then in to Whitley Bay for fish & chips, which we ate overlooking St Mary's Lighthouse - very pleasant.
Eventually arrived home just before 10.00pm... Shattered!
