Rainbow Bridge
The Mr convinced me to go for a ride in the El Camino today so we went to La Conner to have lunch. This is the 3rd time we've been to this place called Nell Thorn's for a midday meal and probably will be our last. The first time we ate there, we thought it was fantastic but have not been as impressed the last 2 times.
However, we had a very nice walk around the cute little downtown and then drove a bit south of the town to a little park just under the bridge. This picture is looking north, towards the town.
There was an article in the paper today about Seattle's "majestic" trees. Apparently an aerial reconnaissance done a few years ago and they estimated that there are 6000 majestic trees still left in Seattle. That means they are 30 inches in diameter, measured about 4.5 feet from the ground. Since the review was done from the air, it's not exactly clear where they all are. Anyway, the people behind the study want Seattle-ites to let them know where they are so they can be properly measured and tracked.
Turns out we have a "majestic" tree in our backyard. It is a Doug Fir and is about 35" in diameter and very tall - the tree guy told me about how tall it is but I forget. Fortunately, it is in very good health too. I will duly fill out the form...
Very terrible about the crane that fell over yesterday. It would have been so much worse had it happened on a weekday.
