Passing the Baton

A dry day

A busy day - led our Cafe Church Service in the morning and in the evening attended an Area wife Baptist Praise and Prayer gathering. This was part of the 150th Anniversary of the founding of the Baptist Union of Scotland.

Eight churches were represented and each of us gave stories for thanksgiving and items for prayer, after which we got into groups for some serious prayer.

In the Selfie a colleague and I are holding a newly made Baton, which was carved out of wood from two kinds of tree found in Galloway, which had been planted exactly 150 years ago. The head of the Baton is shaped like the BUS logo of a crown and a cross.

The Baton is being passed around many of our churches to symbolise our commitment to the future, especially to see the younger people of Scotland finding faith in these uncertain times.
