Menage a Trois?
William and I walked along the wooden bridge to the gate of Kirby Muxloe Castle this morning before going to Mummy Meet. A female pigeon had made a very comfortable nest for herself in a hole in the wall by the door.
Two male pigeons were in attendance, one apparently bigger and more 'male' than the other, which is the one on the left. He was struggling to gain a foothold in the moss on the stone. I couldn't be sure which was the 'Daddy' pigeon. The female wouldn't have just sat there unless she was protecting at least one egg.
Will, Basil and I watched them for a few minutes, before going our way. They were town pigeons, not wood pigeons.
At the Coach, Will wasted no time in climbing the climbing frame to get to the slide. On about the sixth occasion, he lost his footing and slipped through the bars. Luckily, I was able to hold on to him under his arms. Five minutes of being comforted and then he was up on the other frame and slide.
Back home, Grandad got the train set out. That was joy unbounded.
