Limestone Corner

Hadrians Wall path near Chesters. The Romans attempted to dig the ditch on the north side of the Wall as they have done elsewhere. However the dolerite (not limestone) proved to be too difficult so it was abandoned leaving the large boulders on the ditch floor. One still has the holes in that the Romans were going to use to lift the block- see extra. Cheering all round in the Legion.
