Back in the early 1990s, the centre of Perth was hit by a couple of pretty bad floods. As a result a lot of work was put into saving the city for the next time. Part of this meant redesigning the South Inch.
There's now a raised bank all around it and in an emergency there are sluice gates that will allow and excess water from the Tay to overflow into it.
All very well but what's it got to do with today's blip? Well not much other than as I was leaving on the bus this morning there was a layer of mist clinging to the Inch, that seemed to be contained by the embankment. Very beautiful.
So note to self : any similar mornings, take a swing past the South Inch for an early morning blip.
