Clematis Montana

In my next door neighbour's garden there is a dead tree trunk which has been completely covered in clematis Montana. For a few weeks the tree looks amazing as the buds open up into pale pink flowers but once the flowers die the tree doesn't look quite so attractive.

So prolific is the growth hat I have to keep a watch on the creeping stems which will just choke any plant they manage to entangle.
