Why did I buy a cordless lawnmower?

Not my best decision; the batteries have lost their ability to hold a charge, so that within less than a year the mower cannot do the small back and front lawns at my house without having to be recharged which takes about 3 hours.  Has anyone else got this problem?

Update - I've returned the mower/strimmer/batteries to Argos.
