May Day Surprise

I found this lovely May Day bouquet hanging on my doorknob when I got home this afternoon.  They are supposed to be secret gestures of spring and happiness on the first day of May.  I suspected my dear friend Mary Jo was responsible because she and I have talked about the exciting anticipation that used to mark May 1st and the hope of finding flowers on your door placed there in secret.  I remember making the paper holders in school and then filling them with flowers as a surprise for my friends and neighbors when I was a kid.  Nobody does it anymore, sadly.  We even used to have Maypoles which I'm sure nobody remembers at all.  I think we need these kinds of things right now more than ever so I hope the idea catches on.
