Sleeping dragon
Orthetrum Sabina Sabina.
Here is a look at how a dragon sleeps. They hang vertically with their wings in a flat plane. I haven't figured out the reason for the flat wing posture yet, but as all dragons do this, there must be one.
Once the dragons are awake, most species prefer to rest in a horizontal posture, with the wings angled down. They land with wings up and within a few seconds, the wings crank down in a series of mechanical steps. The most interesting shot is with the wings up, but you have to be really fast for that one.
The light reflecting on the wing surface gives some indication of the complex wing shape. I intend to do a blip about this one day. Now that I am getting into multiple images, this is now a possibility.
