Glitzy Green Longhorn

An early morning bird transect round Thorpe Wood, followed by a longer photoshoot for the Wildlife Trust round Glapthorn Cow Pastures NR - taking landscape shots to potentially accompany an article on the site that will appear in The Times in just over a week's time.

It was relatively warm and sunny when I first arrived, and there were clouds of these beautiful metallic Green Longhorn moths dancing round the tree foliage. This one conveniently came to rest for a while, showing off it's deep purple hindwing. It's a male - indicated by the black hair on the top of its head and very long antennae.
