Herdies*

I am very fond of Herdwick sheep and their smiley faces. There are plenty in the fields, mostly too far away for blippable photos, but we found a couple standing by the roadside on Tourist Duty. They were quite obliging until, tiring of our attention, they crossed the road and scrambled over the wall.

On recommendation, we had visited Wray Castle, a mid-C19 castellated house of extraordinary design, (extra photo of the roof over the hall) now in the care of the National Trust. As none of the furniture is original to the house, visitors are encouraged to touch, sit or use whatever appeals, although certain tables are in use for children's drawing. Indeed, children are well catered-for, with several rooms given over to Beatrix Potter scenes and even a play kitchen.

The rain showers proved short and light, we have had plenty of sunshine.

*Edit: Mr Flum reckons the plural is spelled Herdys, I reckon that refers to the Herdy branded goods, like mugs and such, not the breed.
