The flood before Christmas
Thursday was a very wet and windy day in Argyll, and across the central belt of Scotland. Then the storm moved up the east coast, causing damage and disruption. Shetland has not had ferry connections for several days and Tesco is stocking its seasonal shelves in Lerwick by means of a hired Hercules transport.
Today, however, the heavy rain is back in the west and the stream above our house has burst its banks.
When we came here twenty years ago a scene like this was rare. Now it seems to be happening every two or three months and sometimes (like this week) every two or three days.
