"Small house, great quiet"
Parva Domis, Magna Quies...the inscription above the door to the manor house. It's not so small to me. The inside was grandly finished in gorgeous woods and ceramic tiles from what I recall, although I only saw a small bit one day.
The research center and manor house perch atop different hills overlooking the Chagrin River valley. What a gorgeous tract of land left to Case Western Reserve University in 1934 by Andrew Squire, a prominent corporate attorney in the late 1800s / early 1900s. He grew rare plants and herbs at the farm.
The farm again, since Thursday means poetry class. And in the summer that’s where we meet. I’m trying to blip different parts compared to last year, although the bee hives were awfully interesting. Most of the research done here is about plants. There are no farm animals, sadly. Several new experiments are underway and cordoned off in the fields and woods, plus two new hoop houses.
