Ice huts on the river

Ice fishing on the river. Very popular in our neck of the woods.

I took a walk along the West River today and photographed the fishing huts. Would you believe they drive their vehicles out onto the ice and park them to fish? Being from the deep south, I have a hard time understanding how they WALK out onto the river ice, let alone wrap my brain around the fact that they drive their trucks out there.

Check out the huge drill used to cut holes in the ice. (Left of the man.)

Almost forgot: Happy Mardi Gras! (You can take the girl out of New Orleans, but you can't take New Orleans out of the girl.)
