The eradication of scurvy from the Royal Navy in the 1790s was finally due to the Navy's Sick and Hurt Board insisting that lemon juice was issued to sailors. This led to remarkable health improvements and consequently played a critical role in naval battles, notably the Battle of Trafalgar.
