Falkirk Wheel in Action
The Falkirk Wheel connects two canals; the Forth and Clyde and the Union. The wheel is a boat lift taking barges from the lower Forth & Clyde up to the Union Canal and vice versa. In the blip Antonine is being lifted up and Archimedes is being brought down. It's brilliantly clever.
We were over at the Wheel walking along the Forth & Clyde Canal to Bonnybridge then back to the wheel via part of the ruinous Antonine Wall and Roughcastle Fort. The visitor centre, seen here behind the wheel, provided a quick late lunch before we headed home.
The sun was shining but it was pretty chilly. Two tired dogs, four well exercised people and the evening meal is prepared so it's silent reading with a cup of tea time now.
