Mapplethorpe and Woodman and Arbus
I never know – is it okay to take photos in galleries? I do anyway, if there isn’t a written verboten instruction that I can see. This exhibition is brilliant, free and at the National Portrait Gallery where you can also see my favourite bust of RL Stevenson. There are only a few dozen photos, less even from Arbus, and it occurred to me: imagine living with an artist like this, surrounded by images like this. Imagine if they kept producing more and more and the canvases just piled up. You’d become liquid. You’d not be able to eat or anything.
Afterwards we went for fancy sandwiches and Will sent me to order them because, he said, I'm more middle class than him.
