Icons from the air

So excited as we approached Sydney airport to spot the city's iconic Opera House and famous "coat hanger" - Sydney Harbour Bridge.

We can also see a bit of the opera house from our 14th (top) floor balcony - at dusk and after dark - in my Extra, which also shows the parched landscape, from on high as we left Victoria, and greener, as we flew into New South Wales.

Soon after we'd clocked into our hotel our room's phone rang: my school friend was passing and popped in to welcome us and drop off useful books and travel cards. How kind is that! Too tired this evening to explore beyond our immediate surroundings, but we're here for a week.
