60009 Union of Sout Africa

After a long and distinguished career hauling crack passenger trains on the "high iron", 60009 will be retiring in less than a year. I and many other steam enthusiasts will be sad to see her drop her fires for good and end up in a museum.
So when I heard that she would be appearing at Bo'ness, I just had to be there. We arrived just in time, she was backing onto her train so I snapped off a couple of quick shots through clouds of steam then nipped up the line a bit to catch the shot above. She was hauling a mere four coaches with Caledonian Railway 419 bringing up the rear ( see today's extra).
