Audition day
As if having a Royal Ballet School audition wasn’t enough for this week, today Katie had her audition to switch to first study bassoon. This is what they’ve been working for all term. She also had her annual clarinet and piano assessments and a masterclass with a senior woodwind tutor from the Royal Northern College of Music.
The woodwind tutor was blown away by Katie on her bassoon; he was highly complimentary of her sound, her finger work, her articulation and her progress. He was pushing for her to do her masterclass on the bassoon not the clarinet. And when she was given permission to choose by her director, she of course picked her bassoon. As she played her Bach he said to the room “well this is just beautiful, I want to listen to a whole lot more of this”. Girl done good. Just to wait to hear from her director now, who remained very tight lipped during the process.
