When you get a good look at a Starling they really aren't the dull little black birds that many think they are. Look at that iridescence - there's green and purple and blue in there. Then the spots morphing to arrowheads. And the edging on the wing and tail feathers. Gorgeous little things.

We're getting a decent selection in the garden just now - this one was collecting grubs, and kept rearranging them into little piles to make them easier to carry. There'll be a brood waiting somewhere impatiently.
