Heather

Heathers are associated with Scotland but they are also native to Ireland,  Scandinavia, Russia, and North America. They grow on the poor, acid, sandy soils typical of heaths. And they grow really well in my garden. The low mound of greenery is currently smothered with multiple spikes of beautiful vibrant purple flowers.
