Frog Stone

What an interesting day.  After dropping the car at the garage as one of its doors wouldn't lock I managed to make it for the start of a tree trail walk organised by our local walking group.  They had combined two tree trails the Salcombe Regis and Sidmouth ones.  It ended up being quite an energetic walk as we climbed up to the top of the hills around Salcombe Regis passing the frog stone with its views across Lyme Bay.  So many interesting areas, wild flower meadows, ancient woodland full of bluebells infact lots of different areas of bluebells in this part of the walk.  We eventually descended back into Sidmouth finding areas we had never walked around before and some very interesting trees including a Foxglove tree that unfortunately the flowers were fading on but was still pretty impressive nevertheless, a Judas tree, and a Hankerchief tree.  I couldn't help but include a bluebell shot in extras and one of a very impressive chestnut beech.

I didn't quite manage to see the end of the trail and so missed out on the tea and cakes in Connaught Gardens quite an experience itself.  I hadn't heard back from the garage and couldn't get through to the service people.  I ended up on a bus back into Exeter when they rang back saying it needed a new lock and so wouldn't be ready until tomorrow.  I hastily got off the bus further down the road and had to wait almost an hour for the bus back home, but it was good to have managed to fit the walk in.
