There are dog-surfing contests! Who knew? Here is Skyler the Surf Dog on a quiet day at Cowell’s with companion Homer Henard. We were out for our morning walk and there they were in the water, with a small crowd on shore that turned out to be a film crew. Visit Santa Cruz! was the topic, and the filmmakers were chagrined to have chosen an overcast morning for the shoot. “Truth in advertising,” I said. “Welcome to Paradise!”
