Is this real?

I've been looking at this for a while now and in the end, the obvious question came to mind.

"That's a nice fake" I said.

"What do you mean, fake?" came the amused reply from the plant lover.

"It's real".

Just goes to show the depth of my knowledge about these things.
Hope it lasts a while longer, I should come back with a tripod and stuff.
