Mapperton House Dorset

An impromptu visit to this wonderful house and garden deemed to be ‘the nation’s finest Manor House ‘ by Country Life Magazine . The Italianate gardens and arboretum were sheltered - in the large pool we spotted several varieties of newts .
The guided tour of the house by our guide, Gerald was very entertaining and informative- many historical links and stories - the House is currently lived in by the Earl of Sandwich and his family . His wife is an American health food guru and yoga teacher which was reflected in the Coach House Restaurant where we had a delicious and healthy lunch !!!
We finished with a wander through the arboretum which is wilder - we will definitely visit again as we are in HHA .
