Portobello Beach Edinburgh Day 116
The wind has veered to the west. The air temperature is +9. Warm enough to tempt the swimmers into the waves without wetsuits. One of the gulls I saw yesterday morning had broken its wing presumably caught between wave and rocks. The flotilla of freighters and tankers sheltering in the Forth has grown overnight. The westerly runway at Turnhouse is back in use today and the landings are bound to be "sporty" judging by the big jets' laboured descent to Inchkeitb for final approach. The gulls in this blip have opted for the shelter of the groyne. I don't blame them.
