Background Music

I was in London for the 17th (!) Joint Ministerial Committee on European Negotiations.

They are usually held in the Cabinet Office at 70 Whitehall and whilst I was waiting for the pre-meeting (which is an informal chat amongst Ministers) I was aware of much shouting and then the unmistakable sound of a military band playing martial music.

The office I was in looked out onto Horse Guards Parade and down there a full rehearsal for next month”s Trooping of the Colour was taking place.

And it continued for all the time I was in the building, including during the entire JMC.
